Day 2 finds us on a river trip to Yangshou on the Li River. Gracy, one of my students who is from Guilin went with us to interpet for us. She was very helpful. The river trip took 4 hours and it included lunch. Following are a few pictures I took on the trip (only a few I took about 120 pictures). When we got to Yangshou we walked up West Street, which is their market street (meaning tourist street). After we went to the small village of Yulong on the Yulong river. After we returned we went out for a hot pot supper. For hot pot they bring you raw meat and vegetables of your choice and a burner and a pot of water with some lettuce, peanuts, soybeans and chinese dates in it. the water is brought to a boil and your throw in the choice of the meat and vegetables, wait until they are cooked and then eat them. There is provided a spicy sauce to dip them in. After a while the water takes on all the flavors of the items you are cooking We have beef, pork turnup which Gracy called white carrots, potato, and another vegetable that Gracy did not know the English name for.
This is the back of another of the boats on the Li River

The mayor's house and Inn in the city of Yulong
I don't think they are open any more.
Me, Gracy, Rosie on the dragon bridge (at least 600 years old) that crosses the Yulong river.
Some paid extra to ride on one of these rafts.
This bird dove and caught this fish, but the guy in the next picture and put a string around its neck so it could not swallow the fish all the way. The next picture the owner of the bird is removing the fish. They catch up to 100 lbs. of fish a day.
There are thousands of scooters in Guilin, many more than cars.
Awesome trip. Someday I will go and do this.
